COVID-19’s Impact on Businesses, Experiences, and Individuals Across Continents
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a multidimensional impact on worldwide sport businesses, sport organizations, the diverse experiences of sport participants, and individuals across continents. In this year’s virtual edition, scholars and practitioners will share their scholarship and practical experiences connected to the ongoing pandemic, which has revolutionized not only the way we live, but also the way we relate and play sports, as well as do sport business activities across diverse areas of our lives.
This forum is intended to help internationalize campus programs by exposing faculty and staff to the insights and knowledge of internationally renowned keynote speakers and distinguished scholars in the realm of sport. These individuals have conducted research studies within and outside of the United States, exploring the intercontinental impact of COVID-19 on sport participation, sport businesses, and lives of diverse populations in worldwide societies.
The 2021 Global Educational Forum is a university-wide comprehensive platform that aims to facilitate dialogue on research and practical experiences on the impact of COVID-19 on sport in local and global contexts. The theme of this year’s forum is “Sport During Pandemic Times: COVID-19 Impact on Businesses, Experiences, and Individuals Across Continents.” It is widely accepted that sport carries unifying and transcending power that may transform societies, question injustices, and engender better living experiences for everyone. In troubling times, sport has been proven to bring individuals together or to address problematic situations in society, whether local or global, thus helping countless persons of all backgrounds to co-exist harmoniously and work together for human progress.
Goals of the forum:
- Engage dialogue about state-of-the-art research in sport and exercise during the pandemic in local and global environments
- Show how COVID-19 sport impacted sport businesses, experiences, and lives intercontinentally
- Share implications for future research and practice in post-pandemic era.
The 2021 Virtual Global Educational Forum will feature prominent scholars in the field of sport who come from within and outside the University of Georgia.
